CS2 Update Adds The Gamma Case With New Knife Finishes

Todayโ€™s update includes some new sounds, adjustments to the Prime Account Matchmaking beta, and the Gamma Case - featuring community designs and knives with the all-new Gamma finishes.

Operation Wildfire is also being extended by a month, so thereโ€™s still time to finish up your missions and upgrade your Challenge Coin.

The New Gamma Case

Weโ€™ve got a new case - the Gamma Case. It contains 17 community-designed skins, and as a rare drop you can get a knife with one of the all-new Gamma finishes, a look unlike any knife finish series before it.

Prime Account Matchmaking

The Prime Account Matchmaking beta gets a couple of adjustments with this update. Qualifying for an upgrade to Prime Status now requires a qualifying phone number and Lieutenant Rank 21 - if you were previously upgraded and lost that status, you simply keep playing and earning XP to get it back.

Prime accounts also get a new option when queueing: matchmaking can search exclusively for Prime matches, or prioritize Prime matches and allow non-Prime ones after a while. New players additionally receive an XP boost through the Recruit and Private ranks and reach competitive matchmaking sooner, at Private Rank 2.

Improved Weapon Sounds

This is the first in a planned series of updates to sound in CS2, aimed at improving overall sound quality while addressing feedback about ear fatigue and distortion.

It starts with a few weapons in the Heavy category - the Negev, M249, and MAG-7 - and will progress through the rest of the arsenal over time. The smoke grenade sound has also been reworked so it can be heard separately from other game sounds, such as defuse sounds.
