CS2 Winter Offensive Update Adds Two New Cases & Gift Items
Season’s greetings - today marks the start of the CS2 Winter Offensive. The update introduces gift-giving, the first-ever community-made case, and a new eSports case.
The Winter Offensive Weapon Case is the first case built entirely from Workshop submissions, featuring some of the most popular and interesting finishes on a wide variety of weapons. The eSports 2013 Winter Case replaces the previous eSports case and continues the crowd-funding initiative, with a portion of the profit going to future CS2 esport tournament prize pools.
Two new maps, Cobblestone and Overpass, also arrive - although not for everyone just yet.
The Winter Offensive Weapon Case
It contains 15 skins from The Winter Offensive Collection, plus knife skins as a rare drop.
The eSports 2013 Winter Case
The eSports 2013 Winter Case contains 13 skins from The eSports 2013 Winter Collection, plus knife skins as a rare drop. A portion of eSports case key proceeds goes toward CS2 community prize pools.
The New Weapon Collections
Each of the two cases comes with its own collection. The Winter Offensive Collection holds the 15 community-made finishes found in the Winter Offensive Weapon Case, while The eSports 2013 Winter Collection holds the 13 finishes from the eSports 2013 Winter Case.
Winter Gifts
The Winter Offensive also introduces gift-giving, in three flavors. The Gift Package hands a random item to one random player in your match. The Pallet of Presents is the larger bundle, giving random items to up to nine people in your match. And the Audience Participation Parcel gives random items to up to 25 viewers watching your match.
Two New Maps
Cobblestone and Overpass join the game with this update, but Valve wants to make sure both are as balanced as possible before going wide with them. So for a limited time, the two maps are only available for matchmaking within Operation Bravo, while data is collected from a smaller group of players.
