CS2 "The Armory" Update Adds New Charms, Skins & Stickers
Valve released a large update with the codename "The Armory" today, including more than 100 new CS2 items. The previously leaked keychains have finally been released and they're called "Charms". Additionally, we got the new Gallery Case. Then, Valve also added three new collections to the game. And finally, we got some new and fancy stickers too!
Unlocking The Armory Items
In order to get your hands on any of the new items, you need to hop in-game and purchase an "Armory Pass". The pass costs $16 upfront. It comes with one Armory Credit and by playing and earning XP, you can unlock a total of 40 Armory Credits.
The Armory Credits can then be used to unbox any of the new items. A random charm costs 3 credits, a random skin from any of the new collections costs 4 credits, a random skin from the new Gallery Case costs 2 credits, and a random sticker costs 1 credit. And then you can also unlock a guaranteed Limited Edition Item, the Desert Eagle Heat Treated, for 25 credits.
Unfortunately, this update also comes with a new restriction: Unboxed items as well as items purchased on the Steam Community Market now have a 7-day trade and market restriction. So you will not be able to buy the new Armory items anywhere for the next seven days, not even on the Steam Market. The only way to get them right now is by buying an "Armory Pass" and then farming XP by playing the game.
Now that you know how you can obtain any of the new Armory skins, let's jump right into the new items!
The New Weapon Charms
The new Weapon Charms are basically keychains for your skins. You can attach any of the 33 new Charms to your skin for a more personal touch. Only one Charm can be attached to a weapon at the same time. Just like stickers, you can place them freely anywhere on the gun. Charms can also be reclaimed from weapons by using the new "Charm Detachment" tool. Unboxing a random Charm costs 3 Armory Credits.
The New Gallery Case
We've got a new case - the Gallery Case. This case contains 17 brand-new skins which have been designed by community members. Additionally, you can get one of the 13 Kukri Knives from the Gallery Case as a rare drop. Sadly, there are no new knives or knife finishes! Unboxing a random skin from the Gallery Case costs 2 Armory Credits.
The New Armory Collections
Valve also released three new collections. The skins in these collections have been designed by Valve. Unboxing a random skin from any of the three new collections costs 4 Armory Credits. You can take a look at all the new collection skins here:
The New Armory Stickers
And of course, we also got some new stickers! These stickers are pretty different from what we have seen before. They have been specifically designed for crafting, so they are perfect for creating unique and creative craft designs. Additionally, this update contains a huge quality-of-life improvement for sticker crafts: There is now a slider in-game that lets you control the Sticker scrape level. Unboxing a random sticker costs 1 Armory Credit.
The Limited Edition Skin
And we also get a special skin, the Desert Eagle Heat Treated. This skin is only available for a limited time. It costs 25 Armory Credits, so that's pretty expensive compared to the other items. But you are guaranteed to get this nice Deagle, and it won't be unboxable anymore at some point!
Final Remarks
It's worth noting that you can buy and activate up to five Armory Passes and make progress on all of them at the same time. That means the XP you earn by playing regularly will unlock Armory Credits on all five passes simultaneously. It costs you five times as much money, but you can also get five times more Armory Credits, and you unlock your credits five times faster.
Buying more Armory Passes and then just playing the game more is currently your only option to unlock the new items fast. There is no way to buy Armory Credits themselves, you have to unlock them by playing and earning XP. And you can currently not directly buy the new Armory items anywhere, since they have a 7-day trade and market restriction.
So, just have fun playing Counter-Strike and unlock your new Armory items by earning XP!
