Bayonet Fade: Percentage Values & Seed Patterns

The new Armory skins are now available on CS.MONEY

The Bayonet was one of the first new knives introduced in CS2 with the Arms Deal update way back in 2013, as a rare drop in 11 different finishes. Although it shares some design similarities with its larger counterpart, the M9 Bayonet, the knife has a unique draw animation that really sets it apart. The Bayonet still remains a favorite among the community and is considered a high-tier knife with a big demand. Today, the knife comes in every different finish available for knives in CS2, including the Fade finish which is amongst the most desirable ones.

The Fade is an Anodized Airbrushed weapon finish utilizing pink, purple, and yellow as base colors, with patterns being applied to the weapon via Triplanar mapping. However, just like Case Hardened finishes, the Fade finish comes in a total of 1,000 different seed patterns, with each seed defining the percentage of the Fade finish present on the blade surface.

To understand more about the intricacies involved with the Fade finish, things to look out for when buying the Bayonet Fade, and how to check out the different Fade patterns on the Bayonet with the help of our Fade Percentage Calculator, read on.

Bayonet Fade Guide

One of the best methods to check out how the various Fade percentages and seed patterns look on the Bayonet is through our very own Fade Percentage Calculator:

On the top, you can see a slider which can be used to check out the various Fade percentages on the Bayonet, from the lowest end of the spectrum for the Fade finish which is 80%, all the way to the highest which is 100%. On the top right is a text input where you can write a Seed Value between 0 and 1000. This will automatically adjust the slider to give the Fade percentage for that particular seed, and is especially helpful if are looking to buy or sell one and want to know its worth. Higher Fade percentages are generally valued more and can lead to a substantially greater overpay.

Below the slider is an image of the weapon skin. As you adjust the slider or enter a particular seed pattern, the Fade values on the skin’s image will change to reflect how it will look in-game. Lastly, on the bottom half is a table with three columns, which are Rank, Seed, and Fade.

If you change the slider to a specific percentage, let’s say to 85.1% as an example, the table will update to show the various seed patterns available within the 85.1% Fade spectrum. The table works the same way if you put in a specific seed pattern in the top right.

Seed Patterns Affect The Value Of The Bayonet Fade

The seed pattern determines the percentage of the blade on the Bayonet that will be covered with the Fade pattern. For instance, seed pattern #763 is the number 1 seed for the Bayonet, which covers the entire blade and carries all three colors which are Purple at the tip, pink in the middle, and yellow further down till the hand guard. A seed pattern like this is generally more valued and may net the seller overpay above the general market price of the skin.

On the other hand, there are patterns that may look like Full Fades when viewing the skin in-game, but may turn out to be 99% Fades, which are commonly referred to as Fake Full Fades. This is where the Fade Percentage calculator comes in handy. All you have to do is enter the seed pattern number, and it will immediately indicate the percentage of Fade on the knife, saving you from possibly giving out extra money for something that may not be worth as much.

As the Fade percentages go down, a lesser area of the Blade is covered in the pattern, which brings down the price of the skin to some extent.

The Impact Of Float Values On The Bayonet Fade

Float patterns typically indicate the level of wear on the skin, with Factory New condition skins being pristine and Battle-Scarred condition ones having the highest amount of wear on the paint or pattern. The Fade finish on the Bayonet has a float value range between 0.00 and 0.08. This means that it is only available in two conditions, which are Factory New, which has a float range value from 0.00 to 0.07, and Minimal Wear, which has a float value between 0.07 and 0.15.

On higher float values, there are discernible scratches on the blade’s surface, which negatively affect the price of the skin. As the float values go down, the blade is relatively scratchless. The best-looking Bayonet Fades are therefore ones that have a low float value and a high Fade percentage.

Obtaining A Bayonet Fade

The Bayonet Fade is a beautiful skin that goes really well with a number of glove combinations. To go with a theme, you can pair your Bayonet Fade with the Specialist Gloves Fade. Alternately, if it’s a 100% Fade, you can pair the knife with the Sport Gloves Pandora’s Box, while the Sport Gloves Vice look great on lower Fade values.

There are two main ways you can get the Bayonet Fade. You can either buy it or try out your luck at unboxing one. However, all the cases that have the Bayonet Fade as a rare drop were released between 2013 and 2015, which means that they are both low in supply and very expensive to open. There are four other knives that come as possible drops in these cases, all in 11 different finishes, reducing your chances even further. The best bet then is to buy one directly through various listings on third-party marketplaces, which can be accessed here:

Concluding Remarks

The Bayonet Fade is one of the best knife skins in the game. Unboxing one may turn out to be a very expensive endeavor, considering the rarity of cases and their high prices. There are still good deals to be found, and if you are looking to purchase one, you now have the knowledge and tools at your disposal to find the right knife. You can rest assured that a Bayonet Fade will have high demand and will resell easily. It may also appreciate further in value if you plan to keep it for a few years down the line.
