How To Sell CS2 Skins For Real Money
Are you looking to sell that brand new knife you just unboxed? Or just trying to get rid of some leftover skins for some extra cash? Look no further as we will guide you every step of the way from the item in your inventory to the money in your pocket in the easiest and safest conditions!
Step 1: Do not use the Steam Market!
As you may or may not know, there isn’t any way to convert your Steam Wallet Funds into real cash. So unless you are hoping to use this money to buy some of those new games on sale on Steam, you really should not list any items on the Steam Community Market. You can check this article to learn more about Steam’s Wallet Policies.
Luckily for you, there are other ways where you can sell your items for real money in exchange!
Step 2: Beware of Scammers!
We cannot emphasize this enough. Be very careful with who you talk to and who you trade with. These thieves come up with many complex and, quite frankly, ingenious ways to get what they desire. Most commonly, you might be approached on Steam via friend requests or comments on your profile, offering you very easy ways to transfer you money in exchange for your items. Unfortunately, most of these offers come from scammers trying to steal your skins. Do not be tempted by whatever trusted middleman, nice comments on their profile, or affiliations with well-known traders, YouTubers, and pro-players they say they have. These people might even offer you a large overpay but a good lesson to be learned here is “if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably not”.
There are some legitimate folks offering you fair deals out there, but unless you are a highly experienced trader, we really do not recommend it. And for obvious reasons, meeting someone in person to complete these sorts of exchanges is extremely not recommended. Your best bet would be to go for a recognized and trusted third-party marketplace.
Step 3: Third-Party Marketplaces
You are of course free to choose any of the broad range of marketplaces found online to list your items. But as of 2022, Skinport is widely recognized as the best and safest platform in the CS2 community. With currently over 350,000 skins listed on their website, it has an overwhelmingly good rating on Trustpilot of 4.9 out of 5 with thousands of reviews. On top of that, it is highly recommended by many of the biggest Youtubers and Streamers on the platform.
After your item is sold on Skinport, you can easily transfer your funds to your own bank account (via SEPA, ACH, and more) within a few business days of the sale with a 12% seller fee (which can be reduced to 6% for high-value items), without any other hidden or even payout fees!
In addition to this, Skinport allows an extra layer of protection with a two-factor authentification option to guarantee the safety of your account.
Step 4: Selling a Skin on Skinport.com
After signing up on Skinport with your Steam, Google, or Facebook account, you will need to verify your personal details in order to sell your items. The level of verification required depends on the amount you wish to transfer. This is required by payment industry regulation in order to prevent money laundering which you can find out more about these regulations here.
Once everything is set up and you are ready, simply select the item you would like to sell in your inventory on Skinport and choose your desired price! Note that, as previously mentioned, a 12% seller fee will be applied to the amount you have selected (6% less if your sell price is over 1000 EUR). You will then receive a trade offer from a bot of the site to send the item to the platform (please pay close attention to the bot’s name and the security token in order to avoid being scammed by a fake bot).
Immediately after confirming this trade, your item will be listed on the Skinport Marketplace for others to buy! You can of course cancel your listing at any moment and even modify it after it is up.
As soon as the proud new owner of your skin completes his purchase, you will directly receive the amount (minus the 12% fee) in your Skinport funds which are safely transferable to your bank account in a variety of currencies without any additional fees within one to three business days, ready to be used!
Note that selling CS2 skins on Skinport is not possible in certain countries because the payment service provider does not offer support for them yet. Please be aware that using VPNs or other methods to circumvent the restriction will therefore lead to the loss of sales proceeds and sold items.
See? It wasn’t that bad! Some might find this process tedious but you can trust us when we say this is to ensure and protect your safety at a hundred percent while complying with all legal regulations. We hope to have cleared out most if not all of your questions regarding selling CS2 skins for real money.
