It has been a year since Operation Riptide was introduced in CS:GO, and fans of the competitive shooter are yet to see another operation hit the servers since then. As time progresses, the CS:GO community continues to grow impatient as players are eager to know more about the details of the next CS:GO operation.

In this article, we’re gonna take a look at everything we know so far about the next CS:GO operation and try to determine its estimated release date based on previous operations and their releases.

If you’re a fervent fan of CS:GO, there’s not a chance that you don’t get excited every time a CS:GO operation is about to drop. Not only do these operations bring tons of new content to the game, but they also reward players with valuable weapon skins and cases that can be easily earned through playing the game. For these reasons, the introduction of new operations in CS:GO is also generally accompanied by the game reaching unprecedented milestones in terms of player count.

To be able to receive exclusive rewards from CS:GO operations, players are required to purchase an ‘Operation Pass’. These passes are usually priced around $15, but the rewards you obtain after purchasing the pass can easily be worth much more than your initial investment. Once you purchase the pass, all you need to do is complete weekly missions and collect the rewards that you get each week for skins, stickers, or other operation-themed items.

Let’s take a look at when you can expect the next CS:GO operation to launch, and if it’s going to be in 2022.

When Can You Expect the Next CS:GO Operation?

At the time of writing, the exact release date of the next CS:GO operation hasn’t been revealed by Valve. However, we have enough information to make an educated guess about when it’ll arrive at the game. Let’s take a moment to consider the following points:

  • CS:GO operations are generally shipped between the months of September and December. The last CS:GO operation, Riptide, was shipped on 21st September, 2021, while Operation Broken Fang was released on 3rd December, 2020.
  • Each CS:GO operation also brings with it a community map rotation. However, it hasn’t been long since the developers added Tuscan, Breach, and Anubis to the game’s rotating map pool. The three new maps were added alongside the shooter’s tenth-anniversary update on August 16, 2022.
  • CS:GO operations also bring with them an exclusive operation-themed weapon case. The last case we received in CS:GO was the Recoil Case, which was introduced to the game on July 1, 2022.

From the above-mentioned information, it’s safe to say that we’re likely only a few weeks away from the next CS:GO operation, maybe even only a few days. If we’re lucky, the new operation might land towards the end of November, 2022. Otherwise, fans can expect the upcoming operation to arrive at some point in December, 2022.

Like its predecessors, the upcoming CS:GO operation is also expected to last for five months before coming to a conclusion around April or May, based on its release date.

Conclusion

Valve is infamous for not announcing the launch of operations (or any other major update) at any date prior to its actual arrival. So don’t be surprised if the new operation drops out of nowhere on this very day.

At the same time, it’s important to mention here that everything in this article is just speculation and educated guesses based on what we’ve seen in the past. So take it with a grain of salt.

With the Rio 2022 Major having just come to a conclusion and the heavily-anticipated Source 2 update potentially being just around the corner, now would be an ideal time for the developers to ship out the new operation to the game. Not only will a new operation bring lots of new players to the game, but it’ll also encourage veteran players to keep playing the game and grind out the weekly missions for rewards.
