The Huntsman Knife was released all the way back in 2014 as an exclusive rare item drop in the Huntsman Weapon Case, in 13 unique finishes. For the most part of its existence, the Huntsman has been considered to be the most underrated knife in CS2, with community members squarely putting it into the category of a low-tier or mid-tier knife. This sentiment has shown a major shift in recent years, and a large part of the community now considers it to be a solid mid-tier investment. Some of this can be attributed to the release of newer mid-tier knives, which may be unique, but which do not seem to surpass the Huntsman in the overall design.

Also, owing to the large, well-designed blade on the Huntsman with a tanto tip and serrations on top, some of the more expensive finishes such as the Gamma Doppler, Doppler, and Lore, look exceptionally good on the knife and are great mid-budget options. The most expensive of these is the Fade finish, which is also perhaps the best-looking one on the Huntsman.

Although on first impressions the Fade finish might look beautiful and simplistic, with three different colors fading into one another on the blade, there are more than a few complexities involved. In this article, we will be analyzing each of these in detail so that if you are out looking for the Huntsman Knife Fade, you have a better idea of each knife’s actual value.

How It Works:

If you are looking at a particular Huntsman Knife you found a good deal on, be sure to find out its seed pattern number first. On most third-party marketplaces, these are shown in the item description, but in case it isn’t, you can inspect the skin in-game, and click on the info icon at the bottom which will show it. You can enter the seed pattern in the field at the top right of the calculator, which in turn will adjust the slider next to it, adjusting it to the corresponding Fade percentage of the seed. The image of the Huntsman in the center will refresh to illustrate how the Fade percentage of the seed will reflect on the skin in-game.

At the bottom of the calculator are three columns titled Rank, Seed, and Fade. One of the rows in this table will show the seed pattern you entered in the Seed Column, its rank in comparison to other seeds, and its Fade Percentage as a numerical value. The other rows in the table will be populated with information for seeds that are similar to it.

Alternatively, you can manually adjust the slider yourself from the lowest Fade Percentage of 80 all the way to the maximum which is 100, to analyze how these look on the Huntsman Knife and affect its look.

FAQs

Below, we’ve compiled the most frequently asked questions about the Huntsman Knife Fade and answered them for you. So, let’s get right into it!

How Do Seed Patterns Impact The Value Of The Huntsman Knife Fade?

There are a total of 1,000 pattern variations of the Fade finish, each having a distinct Fade percentage associated with it which transfers onto the Huntsman Knife’s blade and also determines the ratio of the three Fade colors which are yellow, pink, and purple. Seed patterns are critically important and must always be inspected prior to purchasing the knife, or before selling it to get an accurate idea of its actual worth. For instance, seed patterns such as 412, 602, 359, etc. all carry a low Fade percentage of around 80. At this level, more than 70% of the blade is covered in yellow, which is the least valuable color in the Fade spectrum, while 20% of the blade remains unpainted. Huntsman Fades such as these might even be sold at a lower-than-average market price.

On the other hand, seed patterns 763, 575, 897, and 636 are the most valuable, being closest to the 100% Fade levels, with the whole blade being covered in the Fade pattern. Such patterns tend to go at substantially higher prices than the average market value of the Huntsman Fade Knives.

How Do Float Values Impact The Huntsman Knife Fade?

On knives with the Fade finish, there are only two wear conditions available. These are Factory New, with its complete Float range from 0.00 - 0.07, and Minimal Wear, with a very limited float value range of 0.07 - 0.08. This factor results in a very high percentage of Huntsman Knives in the Fade finish to be unboxed in Factory New condition. On some knives, as the float value gets progressively higher, the blade starts to show signs of wear in the form of scratches or abrasions, which negatively impacts the value. However, on the Huntsman Knife, no apparent wear and tear is evident, and therefore float values in general don’t have much of an impact on its value.

How Can I Get A Huntsman Knife Fade?

As mentioned at the beginning of our guide, the Huntsman Knife Fade was released with the introduction of the Huntsman Case. One of the ways you can try to get one is by opening this case in the hopes of getting it as a rare drop. However, this is also perhaps the worst possible way to be going about it. Since the case is now one of the oldest, there are few of it in circulation, and those that are available are extremely expensive with an average price of over $7. Also, there is no guarantee you will get any rare item drop regardless of the number of cases opened.

The best method is to compare the listings for the Huntsman Knife Fade on the various third-party marketplaces where it’s up for sale, to try and find the best deal for it:

Conclusion

We hope that you now have a thorough understanding of the Fade pattern in general, and how it impacts the Huntsman Knife more specifically. The Huntsman Knife in the Fade finish is easily one of the most solid mid-budget options, and can be paired with the Specialist Gloves Fade to completely transform its look, taking it to the next level. The Knife looks even better in the new Source 2 lighting, and with limited supply numbers of the Huntsman Case from which it drops, we believe its price is likely to go up in the coming years making it a worthwhile investment.
